Can the scientific method coexist with creative storytelling, and what are the responsibilities of a filmmaker working with science? How can you tell 'good' from 'bad' science and what are the peculiarities of researching for this genre? In this session a panel of experts address these and other issues, examine the the pitfalls of science filmmaking and look at the recent developments in this form of documentary.
Speakers will include David Glover, Commissioning Editor for Science at Channel 4 Factual, Aidan Laverty, Producer/ Director and Executive Producer of BBC science content and incoming editor of Horizon; Tom Ziessen PHD, Public Engagement Adviser - People and Broadcast at the Wellcome Trust, Tim Boon, Chief Curator at the Science Museum and author or 'Films of Fact' and Susan Aldworth, artist filmmaker and recipient of a Wellcome Trust grant.
