Reading-based director Peter Strickland made his directorial feature debut in 2009 with KATALIN VARGA. Filmed in Transylvania, this powerful revenge story was five years in the making, won a Silver Bear in Berlin and was distributed by Artificial Eye. Strickland has a significant background in music, having been part of the early 00s London-based alternative and experimental bands The Sonic Catering Band and They Came From The Stars I Saw Them and he brought a variety of experimental musical artists to the KATALIN VARGA soundtrack.
This event sees a selection of performances by musicians involved in the film’s soundtrack, accompanied by a selection of stunning photographs shot by Marek Szold during the making of the film. Also screening is Strickland and Szold’s documentary short HOME MOVIE (KATALIN VARGA) about the making of the film.
We are thrilled to be joined at the event by Hilda Peter, lead actress from the film.
