‘Press that Down’ by Union Of Knives employs the use of stock footage from WW2 intertwined with original slogans from WW2 propaganda posters, set against and reminiscent of the colorful style of the Ipod/Apple adverts. The influence for this piece arose from a video by German video art pioneer Klaus vom Bruch called The Softi Tape (1980) that suggests war and advertising are perhaps two of the most important influences on the construction of the modern personality.
